This is a really beautiful and original late 1950s or early 1960s organza floral print shirtwaister dress. The floral print, which we identify as tulips but could also be rose, is in mid-century colours of orange, green and yellow. The dress is a classic and much desired shirt-waister design in a floaty and feminine manmade fabric with two groups of original plastic buttons on the bodice. An unusual feature from this era is the smocking detail on the back of the dress, at the shoulder line in coordinating colours. The dress is shaped at the bust & gathered at the waist. There is lots of generous fabric in the sweeping skirt that finishes at mid-calf. The dress has pointed cuffs also with matching buttons. The condition of this piece is really excellent; extremely clean and fresh with no issues of any note. It can be worn over a simple slip dress or for a really daring look could be worn on its own. This dress will fit a range of sizes up to and including UK 12 or US 8. This is an American made, Unlabelled piece of very good manufactured quality.
